Obituary for Michael Bolduan

On Wednesday, February 19, 2020, Michael Lee Bolduan, age 59, retired to trucking in heaven, where he is mingling with truckers who have passed before him. Mike Bolduan was born on May 6, 1960, to Burton and Joyce (Somermeyer) Bolduan and was one of four children that grew up in Union Township near Caledonia, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Caledonia, Minnesota, and graduated from Caledonia High School in 1978. Growing up, he was active in the FFA and 4H. For many years, he loved showing his award-winning cow, Daisy Mae, at the Houston County and Minnesota State Fairs. He married his love, Cynthia on August 31, 1996, and they welcomed their daughters Hannah in 1997 and Heidi in 2000. Mike started his trucking career at Schultz Transit Inc. in 1985. Over the years, he hauled just about anything and everything, traveling across the United States. He hauled for Louis Lane, RMI, Stan Ferguson Trucking, Staggemeyer Stave, Blessed Hope, and Caledonia Haulers up until September of 2019 when he retired from trucking. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He also liked going outside to check his crops and beef herd. On a daily basis, he talked about farming, trucking, or politics with someone. He had a passion for NASCAR and traveled to Talladega Speedway last April to watch the race with his trucking buddies. For someone who was on the road most of his life, he was able to serve his Lord holding office positions on the Church Council at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. When the girls were younger, Mike took each of them along trucking. They went on a lot of sightseeing adventures, and the girls found an appreciation for truck-stop breakfasts. He was very proud of his daughters for all of their life achievements. In July of 2017, Mike began his battle with colon cancer. He received treatment at Gundersen Health in La Crosse, WI. He was cared for by wonderful nurses and doctors, and he enjoyed talking with each one of them when he received treatments. We should all remember to live like Mike — Live each day to the fullest, find a way to bring joy everywhere we go, and make friends with everyone we meet. He lived a life full of adventure and made the best of the simplest things. He will be forever loved and missed by his lovely wife Cynthia (Ruberg) Bolduan; his two daughters Hannah and Heidi; his parents Burton and Joyce Bolduan of Caledonia, MN; his brother Steve (Sheila) Bolduan of Caledonia, MN; his sisters Kari Honoroff, New Brighton, MN, and Nancy (Mike Juen) of Stoddard, WI; his nephew Patrick (Jaralyn) Bolduan and their daughters Eloise and Amelia; nieces Maribeth (Justin) Haller and daughter Vivian; Anne (Brad) Felten and sons Henry, Gunner, and Maverick; Erin (Kyle) Phernetton and daughters Hadley and Lylah; Samantha Schlemmer and son Logan and daughter Lyric; and Navarae Honoroff; as well as many more family members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Albert and Frieda Somermeyer, Frank and Martha Bolduan, and aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia. Rev. Jon Wolff will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Union Township. A visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Monday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday, both at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. The complete obituary can be found and online condolences may be offered at the funeral home website, www.jandtfredrickson.com.
