Obituary for Arleen Bussian

She was born June 3, 1925 to William and Marie (Uttermark) Groothuis in Clara City, MN. Arleen was baptized & confirmed by Pastor P.J. Kumpf at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clara City, MN. She met her future husband, Richard Bussian, while working at a restaurant in downtown Minneapolis. They were married in a private ceremony on June 23, 1941 and remained together until his death in 1998. Arleen took special pride in caring for her family and home, helping at her church and playing bridge with many wonderful ladies. She enjoyed having visitors, celebrating all holidays, wearing jewelry, pastels and getting her nails done.

Arleen is survived by her four children, David Bussian (Nancy Warner) of Knoxville, TN, Dean R. Bussian (Rita) of Jefferson, WI, Candace (Richard) Ogen of La Crosse, WI, and Cynthia Bussian of Onalaska, WI; five grandchildren, Dean M. and Daren Bussian, Donna Wemette, Alissa McInerney, and Sara Connor; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Justin, Joel, Maddox, Liam, Thomas and Rory; four great-great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Layla, Auri and Knight; one sibling, Robert (Joanne) Groothuis of Crystal, MN; in-laws; and many nieces and nephews in the extended Groothuis and Bussian families.

Arleen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; brothers, Leo and Lyle Groothuis; sisters, Eleanor Stager, Lola Kranz, Phyllis Kranz, Ednabelle Kuehl, Carol Groothuis, Mary Kawell, and Julene Howard.

A private memorial service will be held at Fredrickson Funeral Home, Woodruff Chapel, 4239 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse, WI 54601. Rev. Don Frelitz of Christ Ev.Lutheran Church West Salem will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Woodlawn Cemetery, 3636 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse, WI.
