Obituary for Linda K. Odette

Linda K. Odette, 64, of La Crosse, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012, at her home.

She was born November 29, 1948, in Northfield, Minn., to Eugene and Mae (Zibrowski) Odette. Linda was raised on a third generation family farm in Northfield with her five siblings and she was always happy to share a story about those days. Shortly after graduating from Northfield High School, Linda moved to La Crescent, Minn. She worked at La Crosse Footwear for 32 years, until its closing. She then began working for Brookdale Senior Living, Clarebridge Cottage, in La Crosse. Linda loved spending time with the residents and listening to their stories, no matter what time of day. She also became close to the family members of the residents and many of them sent flowers and cards during her illness. Linda enjoyed gambling with her friend, Terry, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved the campouts on the family farm in Northfield, Minn. Earlier in her life, Linda was an active member of the Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530 Ladies Auxiliary in La Crosse, and served as president from 1988 until 1989.

Survivors include three children, Bridget (Chris) Grelle of Stoddard, Wis., and Molly (Mike) Kolden and Erik Kolden, both of La Crosse; five grandchildren, Melanie, Keagan, and Joclyn Kolden, and Aidan and Bryce Grelle; three sisters, Virginia (LeRoy) Weaver of Faribault, Minn., Jeanyne (Tom Fitzgerald) Odette of Rosemount, Minn., and Julie Odette of Northfield, Minn.; two brothers, Dean (Geralyn) Odette of Northfield, Minn., and Kenneth Odette of Northfield, Minn.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her infant sister, Ruth.
